Last weekend. I’ve been at Pipers Lagoon in the north of Nanaimo. It’s a park surrounded by the sea. The first to greet were several seals.
Like Westwood Lake Park, Pipers Lagoon also featured a lot of logs. But this time they were on the coast instead of floating on the water. Near to the land seals holding their flippers in the air. It seemed like they wanted to greet the humans with their calls. Some seals could be heard from hundreds of meters away.
There were also a couple of travelling sea lions in the water.
The land’s surface was rocky. Next to the water, one has to watch out for steep cliffs. The area features many different types of small trees.
At two spots, there were simple constructions made out of logs and branches which formed basic shelters. On the way back, I took the same bus line that had brought me to the park. That Sunday was nice and a little shower was just typical for the region of Nanaimo.
